Community Involvement

Being part of the Canmore community has been one of the most meaningful and grounding experiences of my life. This valley has welcomed me with warmth and generosity, and it’s through the people, places, and shared moments here that I’ve found a deep sense of purpose and belonging.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to many initiatives that bring people together, support inclusion, and reflect the values that make this place special. From environmental stewardship to youth engagement, newcomer support, and food security, these efforts continue to shape how I understand community — not just as a place we live, but as something we nurture together.

Some of the community efforts I’ve been involved in include:

  • Canmore Young Adult Network (CYAN) – Founding Member

  • Bow Valley Food Alliance – Board Member

  • Immigrant Advisory Group, Bow Valley Immigration Partnership – Founding & Current Board Member

  • Canmore Cleanup – Founder

  • Wildlife Ambassador, Bow Valley WildSmart Program

  • Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport – Chaperone

  • Bow Valley Safer Spaces Working Group – Member

  • Bow Valley Climate Action Society – Member

  • Bow Valley Syrian Refugee Project – Welcome Team Lead

  • Humans of Bow Valley Facebook Page - Founder

I’ve also been grateful to support and volunteer at community events and programs across the valley including National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Banff Pow Wow, Canada Day, New Year’s Eve, Canmore Highland Games and local initiatives like Canmore Food & Friends. These shared experiences have been a constant reminder of the power of community and the importance of showing up for one another.

I carry deep gratitude for all I’ve learned and received here, and that continues to inspire me to stay involved in meaningful ways. Giving back to Canmore is not only a reflection of my appreciation - it’s a way of honouring the community that has given me so much.

Being part of this community has shaped who I am. Every event, cleanup, and conversation has deepened my gratitude for Canmore and its people. I’m inspired every day by the care and commitment I see around me, and that’s what drives me to keep showing up. If you believe in building a Canmore where everyone feels at home and has a voice, I’d be honoured to have your support.
